Camping and Solar – hand in hand
Situated on a peninsula in the Raglan Harbour, the land that the camp ground occupies is almost entirely surrounded by water, a classic New Zealand Camping icon.
Camp managers, Mary and Rob Clark realised that the existing water system is getting toward the end of its lifespan with increasing maintenance bills and a shortage of hot water.
The idea of solar was an appealing one, and thanks to public funding, the dream came true.
The 24 Edwards titan collectors with the 3 x 1,000 litre water tanks are keeping up with demand during the summer peak period and are saving thousands of dollars and the environment
